This is a pretty controversial question, even amongst those who are true blue believers in the magic and mystery of psychic mediumship.  Some mediums truly believe that you MUST be born with this gift to be considered an authentic medium.  Others are convinced that EVERYONE has the innate ability to speak to spirits, and to gain and glean information from the “universe” that most folks can’t see or sense.  And others believe that LIFE circumstances can trigger or unlock this innate ability, and allow “normal” people to become SUDDENLY psychic, without any previous paranormal history at all.

The fact is, in my research anyway, there is a good amount of truth in ALL of the above.  Some of the very best psychic mediums started seeing and speaking to spirits from a very young age…..with much of this manifesting between the ages of 5 or 6 forward.  (at about the age that most kids start having imaginary friends……only in their case, they aren’t imaginary at all!)

In other cases, losing a loved one can trigger the ability to see and speak to spirits as well, as up to 50% of spouses who lose their partner will report an experience like this, and up to 80% of parents who lose a child will have a similar “psychic” encounter, often called an after death experience.  (ADC)

The REALLY amazing thing?

It seems like normal, ordinary people can develop genuine psychic abilities with practice.  Meditation, yoga, prayer and even speaking to other psychics on a regular basis can be a trigger for having incredible spiritual transformations that defy scientific explanation.  Did you know that people who have near death experiences, for example, are well known to come “back” far more psychic than before they “died”?  It’s not only 100% true….its’ something that’s being studied right now, in 2011, by many leading hospitals and universities who are actively researching the after affects of a NDE.  (as up to HALF of all Near Death Experience Survivors report being able to communicate with loved ones who have passed on AFTER they come back!)

My own feeling?

I used to be a die hard skeptic. (no pun intended!)  But after having a genuine encounter with someone who died MANY miles away from my home…..at the very moment of his sudden, and unexpected passing, I’ve dedicated myself to studying the psychic connection between us all.  I’m now convinced that some psychics ARE in fact super special, and have the ability to see, sense and feel things that most of us never will.  (sort of like psychic “superstars” that may be born with the gift) I’m ALSO convinced that anyone can become more psychic with practice, and I know from first hand experience that ALL of us CAN speak to the so called “dead” with practice as well……and regardless of how skeptical you may be today, when it happens to you, you’ll know it’s true!

What is a Psychic Medium (And the ONLY Way to Prove the Afterlife is True)

Are psychic mediums real? What do they really do? And can a psychic or spiritual medium really prove the afterlife is real? The truth is, all of these questions are not only controversial, the answers are NOT always as clear cut as people on both sides of the fence would have you believe.

Let me explain why, and what YOU need to do to get the proof you need.

First, as someone who has 20 years of experience in researching, writing and reading about psychic experiences of all types, I can tell you that I’ve had many incredible first hand encounters with mediums who have simply blown me away with information that would have been impossible for them to know.

No fishing for answers, guessing, or taking a stab in the dark. Just genuine encounters with well respected psychics and mediums by phone and in person alike, that have totally convinced me without any shadow of a doubt, that the afterlife is real. (and that we all live on after physical death)

That said…..

I’ve also had plenty of experiences that have been dubious, disappointing and NOT convincing as well. As a matter of fact, my belief is that the vast majority of professional psychics, mediums, tarot readers, and other new age service providers are NOT real. They may believe they have special talents or gifts, but more often than not……they are no more inherently gifted than you or I.

Like anything else in life, the 80/20 rule applies. 20% of the psychics are probably really doing something special, and the other 80% are providing ammunition for the skeptics, the cynics and the debunkers.

So what is the actual definition of a psychic medium?

In my vocabulary, anyone who can facilitate communication with spirits, and transmit or share that information with others, is a medium. While we ALL have the ability to talk to our loved ones that have crossed over, I’m a pretty firm believer that only a very small part of the population can actually do it “on demand”, and then be able to share what they see with others live, and in the moment, while it’s happening.

The BEST way to prove the afterlife is real, and that your loved ones DO live on?

Actually seek out the experience for yourself. Rather than reading books, or watching TV shows, or even checking out articles like this one, having the actual experience of speaking to a genuine medium by phone, or in person, is the absolute ONLY way to get the proof that most of us seek. Sure it’s reassuring to read that other people believe…..but until you actually are convinced through personal experience, you’ll really never know for sure.

For me? Making the choice to actually speak to a “certified” and well respected medium 20 years ago changed my life forever, and it’s been one amazing adventure ever since!

I was lying in bed, staring at the ceiling and trying to fall asleep.  All of a sudden, I heard a buzzing noise, and the next thing I knew it felt like my whole body was vibrating and reverberating with an energy and a frequency I had NEVER before felt.  Just as I was wrapping my brain around what was happening, the next thing I know I was looking at "me" from a vantage point that appeared to be as if I was "stuck" to the ceiling.  I could see the room, and myself, and it looked 100% similar as it does right now as I type this, only of course, I wasn’t using my anatomical eyes to see!  

 

Pretty crazy, and while it was short (it only lasted about 3 minutes from start to finish) it truly transformed what I believed was possible.  (and convinced me without any doubt that we have a soul, or a spirit that can split from the body with practice and training, which I wouldn’t have believed at the time, but now have done many times since!)

It was with a psychic medium, and was on the phone, and so much amazing information came through that it would be impossible to explain away as guessing, or luck or chance.  (or wishful thinking, or my own gullibility as well)
