Psychic Scams? How to Tell if a Psychic is Telling the Truth

Some “psychics” lie.

Some guess. Some fish for answers. And some just take your money and don’t care what happens afterwards at all.

And yet, some psychics are SO amazingly intuitive, enlightening and inspiring that a reading can have a profound effect on how you perceive your past, enjoy your present and pursue your future as well.

I know from first hand experience, as I’ve had just about every type of reading under the sun.

For example?

The kind of reading where you’ve just had something amazingly important happen in your life….and yet, 20 minutes in, the reader is still telling you about something small, trivial and totally off base.

Or, the kind of reading where the reader looks up at you expectantly after everything they utter…..looking for some slender shred of recognition or acknowledgement that they should pursue this path in the hope they hit something that fits.

Or, the kind of reading that the psychic gets BELLIGERENT when you tell them that they are off base. (Even when you say it really politely, too!) Everyone who has experience with psychics, clairvoyants or mediums over a long period of time knows this type of reader…and the more they “miss”, the angrier and more insistent they get. No fun.

And yet, once in a while you get that reading where information comes through that is so accurate, and so incredible that your jaw drops. When you hear something from a loved one who has crossed that you KNOW in your bones would be impossible for the psychic or medium go get on their own. Or when a reading just “gets” you on this incredible intuitive level, and you KNOW the advice is so fresh, unique and life changing, that you literally have an “A-HA” moment out loud.

So how do you have MORE of the kinds of readings that blow you away, and LESS of the ones you want to immediately forget?

The truth is, there is NO single, simple answer: Instead, here is a simple checklist that has served ME well over the last decade as a psychic researcher and publisher, and that still serves me incredibly well today.

Prepare properly for EVERY reading.

Write down a small list of questions you want answered, before the reading begins, and let THEM control the direction of the reading. (rather than allowing the psychic to go on a tangent or direction they’d prefer)

  1. Stick with the SAME psychics:
  2. I can’t tell you how important it is to find readers you TRUST, and stick by them…much the way you’d trust any other professional. After all, you wouldn’t keep switching doctors after every visit, would you? When you find someone you LIKE, work at cultivating a relationship that grows closer over time. I still speak to the same psychics today that I called 5 years ago….and this personal connection makes ALL my readings powerful, productive and enlightening.
  3. Know when to say NO! When a psychic is getting it wrong, speak UP. Don’t accept bad information, or offer wishy washy responses to wrong readings. Remember, you control what you create in this world, and if you want genuine guidance from the Universe, or from spirit, or from your guides, or whatever you believe in…..you have to be willing to participate.

Lastly, when your own gut tells you something is wrong with a reading, and the insight, information or direction doesn’t sit well, STOP it, end it, or simply hang up the phone. The truth is, your own intuition is the most powerful ally in the world when it comes to discerning fact from fiction…and listening to it SHOULD be your tool for transformation as well.

Psychic Readings Scams – CAUTION! Not ALL Phone Psychics are Created Equal!

Are psychic reading scams a common problem?

Do many people get ripped off when they seek out psychic advice?

And what is the best way to AVOID getting conned when seeking out a psychic for help, without having to travel miles, wait weeks or break your bank account on one of those celebrity style psychics on TV?

This question comes up a lot – and the good news is MOST psychics are not out to scam or con you.

As a matter of fact……if you DO find yourself on the wrong end of a reading, more often than not, it’s NOT because the reading was a scam, but rather…..because the psychic wasn’t very GOOD!  (a much more common problem than those who are looking to intentionally rip you off)

My best advice is this:

If you go see a psychic in your local community, get some feedback before you do.  I’ve had hundreds of readings in my time as a researchers and writer of psychic topics of all types, and some of the worst readings (and worst con artists) were those that I saw in person, and tried to manipulate me into some type of service I didn’t ask for, or need.  (spells, hexes, and that sort of silliness)

If you call a psychic service online, simply stick to the mainstream readers who offer GREAT guarantees, and promise that if you don’t like your reading, they’ll give you your money back.  Psychic Source has always been one of my favorites, and not only because their readers are great, but because if you DO get a bad reading, they’ll refund you right away…….no questions asked.

Remember – most psychics aren’t out to scam you.

Some simply aren’t all that “psychic”, even if they believe they are!  So do a little bit of due dillegence, and seek out serious readers with a track record of success when you need advice, and you’ll find your expereinces, like mine…….ARE quite enlightening and a whole lot of fun as well!

SHOCKING! Genuine Phone Psychics Reveal the DIRTY Secret of the Telephone Psychic Industry

Several years ago….seismic SHOCK waves ran through many psychic service corridors, when several of the larger phone networks had employees come "out" and admit they weren’t psychic at all.

As a matter of fact, one of the TOP "psychics" on one of the popular telephone networks actually split time between taking psychic callers and clients, and SEX calls and clients on the other. (working for a separate service, of course..:-)

The truth is, and this is WELL known in the psychic industry, most of the phone psychics are fakes. They aren’t psychic. They aren’t clairvoyant. And they aren’t any more intuitive than you or I.

How does this happen?

In my view, POOR standards. There is no "testing" or credentials required to take a job as a telephone psychic, medium or clairvoyant, and most of the companies that hire the psychics, are lax in how they enforce verification protocols that PROVE the person handling the call has experience or training as a legitimate offline intuitive in the REAL world.

The GOOD news?

Several of the long standing, reputable and well trusted psychic services have put in their OWN policing, and have created internal standards, and methods of operation that are ETHICAL, enviable and well worth emulating.

Psychic Source, who we recommend and partner with here, for example, only hires 6% or so of the psychics who apply for their positions, meaning that about 95% of the rest who don’t make the cut…….not only DON’T get hired, but unfortunately…go work elsewhere instead.

Other networks offer FREE 5 or 7 minute introductory readings without requiring payment, promise or commitment from the caller……allowing the burden of PROOF to lie with the psychic, before any money is exchanged.

The bottom line?

Don’t allow yourself to be suckered, snookered or taken advantage of when calling a psychic….and use the simple protections above to ENSURE your next reading is remarkable, before you risk a penny! (and that’s the same advice WE use ourselves to ensure our readings are OUTSTANDING…almost every time!)

How to Avoid Psychic SCAMS at All Costs (And What to do When Your READING is BAD!)

What happens if a psychic reading is bad?

Do I trust the psychic…..or should I ignore the advice completely?

And what if the information is SO inaccurate….that it just doesn’t make sense at all? Should I wait to see if it DOES come true…..or should I simply assume the psychic was WRONG? In this article we are going to take a quick and insightful look at what to do when you’re reading is NOT accurate, enjoyable or even any good….and the simple steps I recommend to avoid psychic scams as well.

With this in mind……..let’s look at the simple steps I recommend to avoid fake psychic readings, to the best of your ability. (with the understanding that if you get LOTS of readings over the years like many of us do…..you WILL get bad readings from time to time……PERIOD The key is to MINIMIZE them, and to NEVER spend a lot of money on a psychic until you are sure they are good!)

  1. Always do your DUE diligence before testing a new psychic or service.
  2. Read reviews.
  3. Check out ratings where available.
  4. Remember that good psychics ALWAYS have fans…..and if a psychic, or a service has no "history" at all…it’s usually a good idea to stay away until they do.

IMPORTANT: Avoid "100%" free readings as much as possible.

Why? Because they usually are a scam, rarely are really free, and NEVER are any good..:-) The truth is, the vast majority of the "absolutely FREE" psychic offers you’ll see are only thinly veiled, bait and switch style services that reel you in with a too good to be true offer…and then try to up-sell you more expensive services once they’ve got you in their grasp.

If you DO want a free reading?

Only use services that have transparently advertised when you’ve got to pay! For example, one of the services we recommend offers 7 minutes free, simply because they want to prove to you they are real, and good, and worthwhile…..before you have to spend a dime. (but of course, they acknowledge, and advise you that a more in depth reading will go beyond the 7 minute complimentary period, and hope you sign UP for more..:-)

The #1 thing I tell ALL my readers about finding good deals on psychic services?

Always start small. Set aside a small budget, and don’t break it. Put 20 dollars aside, and test a psychic service to see if they are right for you….BEFORE ever blowing a big budget on a service you don’t know, or don’t trust, or haven’t heard of ever before.

What should you do if a reading is BAD?

Very simple. You should ONLY call services that offer GREAT guarantees, stellar customer service and make it easy for you to get your money back…..or get a replacement reading in the event yours does NOT live up to your expectation.

In my 20 years of experience I’ve learned ONE lesson over and over:

Much like any other honest, and legitimate service, a good psychic network will want to EARN your trust…and will go out of their way to ensure your experience is as good as expected….or they WON’T want you to pay! (and that’s GOOD news if you are a psychic junkie like me..:-)

Are Most Psychic Readings a Scam? Learn the Truth About Psychic Shams, Scams and How to Avoid Them!

How many psychic readers out there do you truly believe are authentic? 50%? 20? More? Less? It always amazes me how many people are fanatical believers in psychic phenomena, yet….have no real ability to discern between the AUTHENTIC psychic services and individual intuitive, and the people who prey on those of us who believe.

So what percentage of psychics are REAL?

It’s obviously impossible to put a specific number on it. I know that the telephone psychic service I use and recommend ONLY hires about 6% of the intuitives who apply…..leaving the rest to work elsewhere. But most don’t "test" their intuitive at all…..meaning knowing how good they are is an impossible guess without calling them ourselves.

With this in mind….here are 2 SHAMEFUL psychic scams you must learn to watch out for…and of course, avoid across the board to boot.

My TOP shameful sham?

Psychic healings, curses, spells, hexes and cures. They really don’t work, and after researching psychic abilities for close to 20 years, I can tell you that MOST authentic, genuine and good intuitive don’t believe they do either. Is there SOME evidence that psychic healing is possible? Absolutely…and I believe it’s a fascinating area for sure. But are you going to find an authentic healer on the phone, or on a forum, or on a popular online classified board? I really doubt it…and most who have gone this route have been ripped off, disappointed and taken advantage of to boot.

#2?

ABSOLUTELY "free" readings: Why? They are rarely good….and NEVER really free! Remember, no one spends their day on the phone waiting to help random people out of the goodness of their hearts. Or….if they do, they are NOT the psychics who advertise..:-) The truth is, many of these free offers are bait and switch style scams that WILL take your money at some point on the call, and the "free" is simply a way to induce you to call.

The verdict?

Find REAL psychics, real networks and honest offers that feel good in your heart, "gut" and soul. A good reading CAN change your life. Follow the simple steps above and you’ll get one….AND avoid the ones that don’t have your best interest at heart to boot!
