What does the phrase “Afterlife Medium” even mean?
Good question! There are tons and tons of different types of psychic powers so to speak, and exceptional abilities as well. The ability to speak to, sense, or see spirits is one that is traditionally associated with mediums who purport to be able to cross the “veil” into the world that awaits us all, and report back on what they see.
Are all psychics able to communicate with the dead?
Absolutely not. Being a medium does NOT mean that you can see the future in a precognitive sense, instead, it means you have an innate ability to get information from another source altogether. (which most mediums believe are through the communications they receive from those in spirit)
In some ways, legitimate mediumship is a very specialized skill…..very similar to how a brain surgeon is a very specialized type of doctor. Finding a medium who really CAN see, sense and speak to the spirit realm is NOT as common as the ads and offers you’ll read promise, and it’s actually quite RARE to find a medium who is really very good at all. (in my own experience, over 20 years or so, I’ve found that only about 20% of the mediums I’ve consulted with have been able to do what they say)
What is the value of seeing a medium anyway?
Honestly? The BIGGEST reason to speak to a medium is HOPE, happiness and the reassurance that life continues after this one is over. There is nothing more validating, more comforting and more reassuring than getting told things that you KNOW are impossible for a “stranger” to know about you, and your loved ones who are no longer here. As a matter of fact, I was a complete skeptic before I had a mind blowing reading with a medium about 18 years ago. The information that came through was SO specific, so private and so impossible to guess, that I hung up the phone knowing with 100% certainty that “something” amazing had just taken place, and as much as it confused me……I KNEW in my gut that I had just made contact with a recently deceased family member.
That sort of evidence, and experience CAN change you at your very core….much the way it changed me. And THAT’S the biggest and best reason to consult with a medium in the first place…..EVEN if you are dead set skeptic right now.
Talking to a medium changed MY life, and totally changed the direction the last 20 years of my life have taken as well.

ADC’s (After Death Communications)
This is really the scientific, or academic word for apparitions……or seeing a GHOST! Believe it or not, when these happen in a way that feels authentic and real, they are rated as one of the most profound and powerful experiences someone can have. Seeing a loved one who is deceased on the “other side” is the best evidence that there is some sort of life after death, and people who report ADC’s are often forever changed as a result.
Unity Experiences
These are pretty common in long time meditators, and are often described in terms of feeling a “oneness” with everything. People who have this sort of experience often report feeling connected to other people, even feeling as one with the Universe overall. (and many people report this feeling to be like discovering the true nature of god as well!) It’s pretty rare, but very powerful and almost always changes those who experience it forever.

I can honestly say that this was one of the most powerful and spiritually transformative events in my own life as well. Every Medium is Different
Not all mediums communicate with spirits the same way. Some, for example, use spirit guides……to discern and direct the information that comes through. Others use psychic symbols, and get impressions of information, and then try to piece and put that together in a way that makes sense. Still others seem to be making DIRECT, one to one contact with the energies of those who have crossed over, and are having a literal conversation with real people, who simply are no longer in physical form.
As a matter of fact, as a researcher, writer and professional publisher of psychic and paranormal information, I’ve had several conversations with leading “celebrity” psychic mediums on what’s happening while they are doing a reading.
In a small group setting last summer, I listened in as John Edward described it being akin to having a conversation with someone who knocks on your door……only the door is made of a smoky, heavy glass. You can make out the general features of the person standing on the other side, and even hear what they are saying, but some of the details are muffled, unclear and require a good amount of interpretation to understand.
Other mediums I’ve had personal relationships have described the process the very same way, only using different metaphors. One VERY accurate medium I know well says it’s very much like being in a pool, and being underwater……and trying to have a conversation. You can see that the person next to you is trying desperately to say something, you can make out a little bit of what they’re saying, but it’s hard to know for sure what the words are. (and you often have to rely on symbols, signs, body language and reading lips to figure out what they’re saying!)

I know that they’re controversial. But they ALSO are effective. And I’ve read the arguments AGAINST the ouija board as well, which typically state that it’s the people themselves who are moving the planchette around the board. The truth is, while that may be true in SOME cases, it certainly wasn’t true in mine. Therefore, the whole journey, magic and mystery of life is about re-discovering that passion and purpose, and aligning our actions with our authentic spiritual “self” and the goals we were given before we got here. So we each have a destiny, and YET……the choices we make about whether we fulfill that purpose are an integral part of how much (or how little) we grow while here.
Can our astrological charts plan or predict what we’re going to do with our lives?
Like I mentioned above, I believe they can, yes…..but only to a degree. I think the job of a good psychic, sensitive or astrologer is to help you SEE what you already know. In a sense, when you get a tarot reading, or a detailed horoscope reading, the reader is seeing several paths of possibilities, and then helps you make the right choices by articulating what may be coming, how you may want to respond, and what you may want to AVOID of course…..as well!
As far as soul-mates go?
We all have people we are here to learn from, grow and evolve with together.
These are our soul-mates. They don’t all have to be romantic, as well. Families are a good example of soul groups. There are 2 ways to have an OBE. Only 2…….and all out of body experiences fall into one of the following 2 categories.
Spontaneous OBE’s
Induced (or intentional) OBE’s
A spontaneous OBE is the stereotypical experience of leaving the body during danger, trauma or death. Most out of body experiences fall into this category, and obviously….there is very little you can do to induce this experience on your own.
A subset of spontaneous OBE’s are those that occur NOT near death or danger, but simply because of some natural proclivity or talent we don’t yet understand. (Robert Monroe, the pioneer researcher into this whole field was an example of this…..he didn’t TRY to have an OBE, they just kept happening, and he resisted……until finally documenting and detailing the process for all)
INDUCED OBE’s are the most interesting. This is the practice of learning how to intentionally explore the astral realms on your own, and are the most exciting area to explore.
Meditation is a great tool for facilitating an induced OBE, or astral projection experience.
So too is using sound technology like brain entrainment music, or binaural beats as they are more commonly called. (Robert Monroe, mentioned above, pioneered using this technology for inducing altered states of consciousness, and they remain the most scientifically validated approach used today)
Some people use DRUGS to induce an out of body adventure, with many great writers, artists and mystics using all sorts of hallucinogens with all sorts of interesting results. (I don’t recommend this, as it’s both not legal….and more importantly, not RELIABLE, as you don’t know what’s real, and what’s a function of the chemicals)

And…..
LOTS of practice! Some people can have their first OBE in minutes. Others, take days, weeks, months or even longer.
