Or, maybe you are on your way to see someone face to face, and simply aren’t sure what is considered “kosher” and what to avoid? In this short article we’re going to take a quick and easy look at what you should do when seeking out psychic or spiritual advice, especially as you are just getting used to a reader for the very first time.

Do have an open mind! Being open, curious, engaged and interested in what the psychic or medium is going to tell you can be an invaluable part of your reading experience. It’s great to be skeptical… and not so skeptical that you eliminate the energy, and kill the connection a real reading between two people NEEDS to succeed.

DON’T be so open minded that your brains fall out!

There is an old saying about this… and in the psychic and spiritual advice world, I find it to be 100% true, and necessary to repeat. (often) Some readers are simply NOT all that psychic, or they are just winging it, guessing as they go or just really, really off. Ultimately, the responsibility of every person getting a reading falls on YOU to intelligently process what you are hearing for accuracy, and authenticity.

If it doesn’t ring true… it very well COULD be that it isn’t. (go with your gut when in doubt)

Do keep your answers short, succinct and to the point. Yes or no responses are required of some of the very best psychics and mediums in the world… just to make sure THEY know, that YOU know they aren’t fishing for answers. (or trying to lead you in a particular direction) So be open, yet protect the privacy of the information that you’d really like the reader to help you with, rather than giving it all away on your own. (and letting THEM take credit for “using their gift” to glean it.

DO interact, though… as well.

At a certain point in the reading, and you’ll KNOW when this is, the (sitter) which is the caller or client, needs to share, open up a bit and allow some of the feedback loop to play out. If you are seeing a medium, for example… who is communicating with YOUR loved one, at a certain point… they’ll NEED you to help clarify, verify, detail and document some of the information that is coming in.

If you just sit there and don’t say anything… you’ll risk missing a huge opportunity to connect with your loved one on a deeper level, and keep the information flowing for as long as possible to boot.

Again, you’l know when this is, as this is the point where “proof” has already been established, and now you are getting to actually enjoy the reading for what is truly designed to give you. (hope, healing and happiness!)

Don’t ask questions that are morbid or inappropriate. (how and when am I going to die is a common one that makes MOST psychics twitch)

Don’t be obnoxious and confrontational. A professional psychic or medium is a human being, just like everyone else, who happens to be in a controversial field of work.

If you don’t believe, and are 100% sure it’s all “make believe” and aren’t willing to have an open mind for 20 minutes or more, don’t make an appointment just to try to make the reader feel like they have something to prove to you. It’s not helpful, and it is very draining for everyone.

(I used to be that person… so I know the urge very well. An amazing experience with a friend who had passed, and a follow up visit to a random medium changed my perspective 180 degrees, and now I know better! But, even today… if am cynical of a claim made by ANY profession,… I avoid them. Period. No more confrontational karma for me!)

Lastly, DO enjoy yourself. A good reading should be fun and entertaining and should make you feel GOOD when it’s over. Don’t take it all so seriously… and allow your psychic reading to unfold in a fun, easy and inspiring way… and it will, I promise!

Is there any correlation between how much a reader charges and how accurate or insightful they are? And how much do the celebrity or TV mediums charge? Are they really worth 2 and 3 times the cost of someone I’d find in my own local community, or via a well known service online?

Any of these questions sound familiar? If they do… you are NOT alone!

There is no question that comes up more in my own articles and audience, than the dizzying disparity between the different prices you can pay for a genuine reading, and whether or not HIGH prices is indicative of HIGH levels of accuracy as well.

First, understand THIS to be true… because it is.

When it comes to price, HIGHER can often mean less value, less accuracy and less honesty as well.

Some of the best readings I’ve ever gotten have been amongst the least expensive, and some of the worst… the

MOST expensive, often with readers with brand names or big businesses.

In other words, you’ll often find that the priciest readers often charge rates so much higher than their peers, that the law of demising returns applies. (in other words – a $50 dollar reading can often yield just as much info as a $500 dollar reading, with a lot less risk to the caller or client)

Consider THIS:

The best online psychic services have price performance promises – great guarantees, and stellar customer service in the event that you DON’T love the reading, or the psychic session fizzles, rather than dazzles. (which WILL happen, even with good and reputable readers)

Contrast that against a well known celebrity psychic who may be chugging you a fortune… AND making you wait weeks or months to get an appointment, who will VERY rarely offer the same guarantees or performance promises. (e.g. – you’ll have a hard time finding a well known psychic or medium who offers money back guarantees on their readings, simply because they believe they are above that sort of thing, even though they should)

Also, remember that a specialized style reading can be more expensive as well.

A past life psychic reading, that included regression, or even hypnosis (always done in person) can run hundreds of dollars, and often is done by a therapist who has a degree in regression therapy. (and one of the few types of readings that I prefer to get face to face, rather than getting it done via the phone, which in general is my preference)

My best advice for you?

Always do your due diligence, and never believe that you’ve got to pay through the nose to get an amazing, entertaining, inspiring and informational reading.

Try to stick with psychic services that offer incentives, good rates for first time callers, include great guarantees and ultimately, do what ALL confident clairvoyants and spiritual advisors should: put their money where their mouths are!

(if they don’t blow you away… you should NOT have to pay!)

As an author, and amateur psychic intuitive myself, it amazes me how few people will turn to a psychic reading to help them overcome challenges, or make progress in important areas of life that have kept them stuck in a bad job, a bad relationship or a bad situation that simply does NOT need be one day longer.

Believe it or not, many people who have these sorts of problems are often the BIGGEST skeptics that there is.

So are you a good candidate to seek out psychic advice?

Consider this:

The average caller or client for a psychic service by phone is female, 25-55, has a post graduate college degree and earns $75K or year or above.

Most are looking for help or guidance in areas of love or career/money, and contrary to what the cynics say, are not gullible or easily fooled by silly spiritual strategies.  They are smart women with challenging careers who look for alternative channels of advice in addition to the ordinary ones they get everyday.

Believe it or not, NOT everyone is going to get great benefits from seeing a psychic.  In my 20 years of experience in this field, I can tell you that some people simply won’t have a rewarding experience.

Why?

Because a true reading is an exchange of energy and information amongst equals.  Both people (the reader and the client) both must connect and feel some degree of rapport and trust, or the energy, and the information is simply not all that clear.

Of course trust is something that MUST be earned, and you don’t want to trust a clairvoyant or medium simply because they say that they have a gift.  You want them to prove it to you…..but you MUST be willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, and not be overly cynical or confrontational about just how “skeptical” you are until they prove it to you.

Remember, a good reader is a human being.  With feelings.  And emotions.  And pride in their profession.  It always amazes me how many people will come to a psychic and say – “I want you to tell me about XY or Z.  And oh…by the way – I don’t believe in any of this stuff and think you are probably doing a magic trick.”

Of course, if you went to see a lawyer, or went to hire a mechanic, or used the same language to choose a physician, you’d find most of those professionals would see you to the door before you even sat down.

The bottom line?

Keep an open mind. Be nice. And enjoy yourself. Make it fun. You’ll be amazed at how much incredible information will come through, once you do.

The good news?

You can find quality, inexpensive readers online who guaratnee their readings 100%….and if you don’t like the reading, you can get a refund, or a replacement.

Offline, or face to face…that can be a lot tougher, although occassionally you will find a very ethical psychic or medium who won’t take your money if they don’t give you any verifiable information you believe applies to you.  (although it’s much tougher to do that in person, and a bit awkward to ask of course as well…but some mediums I know now advertise this and follow through with this promise if  they “miss” completely)

Are Past Lives Real? (This May Change Your Mind)

Maybe you are wondering whether “HE” is going to call……or whether you are about to get that big raise you KNOW you deserve?

The truth is, there are many, many unique reasons why people all over the world consult with astrologers and have their horoscopes read, and regardless of whether you are a believer or not, it can be a fun, inspiring, illuminating, informative  and entertaining experience for all.

That said, there IS an underbelly of psychic scams and fake astrologers practicing in the world, and this can not only make for a bad experience, it can give the whole industry a black eye to boot.

As a professional publisher in the paranormal arena who has had just about EVERY type of psychic experience and spiritual reading under the sun over the last decade, I want to share a few simple signs that you can use to STOP a fake reading in it’s tracks.  (and run the other way when you see it happening as well)

1 – Any astrologer, psychic, or medium who purports to be able to heal a disease, or cure a health related issue….ESPECIALLY at a large cost, should be avoided at all costs.  And while I do believe there is a fair amount of evidence for all sorts of alternative healing modalities of all types, I would not seek out this sort of help from someone who is NOT highly recommended by the alternative medical community.  (in other words….there is a big difference between an alternative wellness practitioner that is recommended by your regular MD, or other people you trust, versus someone you find on your own, who makes a big promise without the evidence, or documentation to back up their claims)

2 – Avoid hexes, curses and spell providers as well.  Why?  They aren’t real, in my experience….and for the most part, this is well outside of the astrological, or psychic advice space as well.  You almost NEVER ever hear of someone having a bad experience with a conventional psychic or astrologer, yet when it comes to “spell caster”, my experience has been overwhelmingly negative.

3 – Any astrologer who guarantees they can change the future, or has some sort of promise that he or she is 99% accurate.  (or any crazy high statistic)  The truth is, readings are a combination of hot and cold, energy and intuition and even with amazing readers, hit or miss.  Anyone who has all of th answers, all of the time….is someone who I wouldn’t trust myself, or recommend to MY readers like yourself, as well.

The good news?

The vast majority of astrologers and spiritual advisors are REAL people with genuine gifts and a lot of empathy, and insight to share.  Find one who resonates with YOUR energy and emotions, and like tens of thousands of my readers can attest, your life will feel a lot more clear as well!

Or, even more likely….maybe you occasionally know who is calling BEFORE you pick up the phone?  (without your caller ID turned on..:-)  Or, think of someone you haven’t thought of for years….and then strangely, get an email, or a Facebook message from that person only hours later?

Maybe you’ve had incredibly detailed lucid dreams where you’ve felt like you were flying…..or seen strange energies and emotions light up like an aura around people you know, or simply have recurring premonitions about things that later turn out to be true.

The fact is, people DO have psychic experiences each and every day, and no matter how many skeptics and cynics are out there to debunk them, it doesn’t make them any less true to those of us who live in a brighter, more colorful and creative world of possibility.

I’m going to share with you some simple tips for literally switching on your psychic abilities in only 7 minutes a day.  There are many, many technique to do this of course, and I only have space for a few.

But my hope is, if your open minded, and fun, and looking to add some spiritual “spice” to your life, you’ll try a few of these techniques and watch your OWN world become filled with wonder.

(because when you open this window…..it lets in a bright and beautiful light of magic and mystery that CAN change your paradigm forever)

First, understand THIS to be true….because it is:

I started off as a total skeptic, as many of you may already know.  IT wasn’t until I had what is called a “crisis apparition”, or a dream like visitation in the middle of the night from a co-worker, literally across the country, who came to say “goodbye”…..did my world view change forever.

Why?

Because when I woke up in the morning and went to work…..I discovered that this young and healthy friend, who lived on the opposite coast and had appeared to me so vividly in my bedroom – had died unexpectedly overnight.

Quite simply, no matter how hard I tried and how many skeptical explanations I tried to use to explain it away….the experience was simply too powerful, and too life changing to ignore.

(and of course a whole bunch of other stuff happened later, including speaking to a medium who described the experience in amazing detail….even though she had no way of knowing any of what she revealed)

Okay – with that out of the way, I want to share with  you a few simple 7 minute exercises I’ve been using, and teaching for a few years that WILL open your intuitive eye to a whole new world of experiences as well.

Change the Channel

All of us operate under a normal state of ordinary awareness….each and every day.  The default “I” that is me….and the default “everything else” out there.  To start to open your psychic abilities, every day, for 7 minutes…..change the channel of conscious awareness that you let in.

Notice What you Notice

Sit down.  Breathe deeply.  Become aware and mindful of everything happening around you that you DON’T ordinarily pick up.  Sounds in the background.  Maybe a conversation in another room…..or the sounds of nature, or the buzz of the world around you.

Sensations in your body you may otherwise ignore.   Observe uncomfortable feelings like physical pain, or tingling in your hands and feet.

The more you begin to open up to raw sensations….the more energy, and intuitive energy begins to flow to and through your body.  (you can actually feel it in the things you TOUCH after doing this exercise….especially living things from people to plants..:-)

Try to Visualize Energy Around Everything You See

In a psychically sensitive state like after mediation, you can literally start to see the emotional energy that is associated with living systems.  Aura’s for example.  Or again, like I mentioned above…..trees, plants, flowers, animals, even insects….start to buzz with a brightness that wasn’t there before.

Try this for 7 minutes every morning to activate your aura ability -

1. Sit down in front of a mirror.  Preferably one that you can see your whole body, or from the waist up.
2. Sit in a dignified position….whatever dignified feels like, and looks like to you.
3. Just breathe…….and stare into your own eyes.  Notice your breathe….and focus on your face.
4. After a few minutes…..you will start to feel a buzzing, and an outline of color around your head and shoulders.
5. This is what some scientists call “subtle energy” and what spiritual practitioners call the energy body or aura.
6. We all have one…….it’s just that we aren’t aware it’s there!

Once you master the ability to do this on yourself, the truth is…..you’ll start to immediately start to see the same colors around others as well, and you won’t need to meditate to train first too.

(it just becomes like a latent ability within you that WAKES up, and becomes available…and like all great journeys into self discovery, thats only the tip of the iceberg, too)
