]]>I had learned to recognize the physical symptoms of the onset of one of the catatonic states, but this was different. I felt certain that I was going to die.And I did.Like a flash, my consciousness, or soul, or spirit, or ka, left my body.
I was flying upward around the curved rim of the universe at an impossible speed faster than thought. I still had a body, but it was ethereal, light as a feather. I could see the small oval shapes of thousands of galaxies on my left as I sped past. A heartbeat later I was there.In front of me was a long luminous table, like a raised dais, and seated there were beings bathed in light, but human in form. They had heads and bodies, but I could not make out their faces. Were they angels? Judges? I don’t know. I think there were ten of them. At least that is the number that is in my head.
Then I began to spin like a top attached to a string, though my consciousness looked straight at them. I am spinning and looking straight ahead. How is that possible? And I began to weep. I must be dead, I thought, and began, without any prompting or question being asked, to recount the sins of my life, and they were many.
Lying, cheating, stealing, gluttony, sex, drugs; all the small and great sins of boy and man. How small or large they were makes no difference. They were as big as my life then, and all I thought I had to show for it. Through my tears, I begged for forgiveness.The being in the middle spoke in a calm, male sounding voice that I heard in my mind. “You are forgiven. It is not your time yet.”
For anyone interested in the Out of Body Experience…..this is one of my absolute favorite sites for reading up on them in a quick and easy way.

The folks who run the site operate a small network of like minded sites on NDE’s ( near death experiences) and other similar phenomena, and are pretty well acknowledged pioneers in the field of documenting a whole bunch of this stuff for sure. As always…you have to take it all with a grain of salt – some of the experiences are less credible than others in my view, but some VERY compelling, very inspiring, and VERY reassuring stories that will leave you pretty darn sure there is MORE to this human experience than the skin and bones we travel it with.

In May of 2007 I was lying in bed reading a description of the Quaker religion that I had printed off the Internet. It was about how they meditate at their gatherings. There was a section on meditating on something they call the Inner Light. I put down the paper and closed my eyes thinking, "What’s this Inner Light? I’ll try to see it." Within seconds it happened. I shot out of my body at an incredible speed enveloped in a golden light. Suddenly I was in a void.
The void was microscopic and infinitely huge at the same time. It was the most soothing color of brown or gray. I’ve never seen a color like it on earth. I felt completely at home and comforted–both peaceful and ecstatic at the same time. Then I heard a voice that was louder than anything I’d ever heard before. It was so loud it should have hurt my ear drums.
But it didn’t. It was soothing. It said, "EVERYTHING IS NOW." And with those words came a sudden understanding so huge, so great, so infinite. I understood everything all at once. Then I realized that my body on the bed was smiling a huge dumb smile.
And I thought, "I’ve got to remember this. I have to write it down." As soon as I connected like that with my body, I shot back into it. I immediately grabbed a pen and paper and scrawled "EVERYTHING IS NOW. And not only that, but every possible outcome for every possible situation that could ever happen is happening at the same time.

I lost most of the specific understanding I had when I was in the other dimension but some of the things I "knew" were: …there is no difference between micro and macro…there’s no such thing as time…everything is happening now…love is the answer I know it sounds kind of corny but that’s what I knew. And it helps me to this day in getting along with people and living my life. I feel privileged to have been given the opportunity to experience what I did. And I want to know more about it and to experience something like it again.

How often Do You Meditate?
Yes, it’s trite…but TRUE! The easiest way to leave your body, in a self induced and friendly manner (rather than a traumatic experience) is meditation.
