Let’s take a quick look at psychic development for beginners.

The fact is the vast majority of people who are writing in and asking questions….or even those stopping by to take a look are MOSTLY interested in developing their OWN latent psychic skills!

And why not?

With the humdrum existence MOST of us lead, the exploration of the astral realms and other psychic planes is an EXCITING and magnificent new world to examine. Let’s look at a few simple “rules” to get the most out of the process….especially in the beginning.

Creative Visualization for Psychic Development

I’ve spoken about this in many different places, but the simple truth is that creative visualization is the lifeblood of psychic development. The ability to imagine, intuit, and illuminate your own reality is very important!

When it comes to skills like astral projection and the out of body experience, visualization is the primary force which drives the experience! Make no mistake – while these are “out of body” experiences, your mental focus plays a large part in making them happen.

Learn the Landscape

This is very important as well – although a good balance is certainly required. You want to LEARN as much about the psychic process as is useful, without delving in SO deep that your understanding is purely intellectual. (process learning is far more important than textbook understanding)

But being able to process the experiences through a framework of knowledge has been INSTRUMENTAL in my own progress….and believe that if you don’t have the same framework in place, you’ll find yourself lost in a psychic sea…without a rudder..:-)

In this article I’d like to examine the phenomena of an astral body. What is it….do we have one, or it ALL simply a wild hallucination of nothingness? Now, you MAY be sort of rolling your eyes and thinking what difference does whether we have a real “body” per se in the astral realms matter!

But…if you are spiritual warrior and consciousness cowgirl like myself, you realize that this MAY in fact have far more bearing on the truth of “self” than any other question you can ask..:-)

The Astral Body Explained

Most people who have a near death experience, a spontaneous astral projection or even those who can “consciously” project, will describe a body of light that OFTEN is loosely connected to the physical self. (often times through the “silver cord” which has been described for hundreds of years)

The further that you travel into the astral realms, the more likely this cord is to disappear, giving your ethereal body FAR more freedom than when it’s connected to your physical shell.

But is it FORM, energy, or something completely different?

It depends on who you ask…and to be honest, what you believe.

My belief is that obviously, pure consciousness is the source of our truest selves...and within that frame the physical bodies disappears into a loving and primordial light.

But – I do believe that is FAR beyond where most folks “go” during most projection experiences (although some do) and closer to the plane of normal existence, we have a more substantial form.

Of course different belief systems preach different small details, but the over arching truth is that your spiritual self is indeed eternal, a smaller piece of a fabric in a large and wonderful evolving tapestry that lies beyond.

Allowing that part of you to “leave” the body and experience that life now is just about the most wonderfully exciting and transformational journey you can make!
