A near death experience is traditionally NOT a close call with death or a brush with disaster. Instead, from a scientific standpoint, it’s a description of the experience of being “technically” dead for a period of time, where the vital signals, and traditional signs of life in a patient (or person) are no longer present. Cardiac arrest, for example……is a pretty common cause of a NDE, and many of the people who have had this experience have had a heart attack immediately beforehand.
(although there are all kinds of traumas that can lead to being “dead” of course, this is a pretty common one in NDE literature)

Most people who have a traditional near death experience report 1 common trait over and above all others: They no longer fear death! People of all walks of life – rich, poor, religious, atheists, young, old and everywhere in between come “back” from the NDE experience feeling like there is NO such thing as being dead….and that life continues after this one is over. (pretty amazing…..and well over 90% of NDE’rs report this feeling with complete certainty)
All kinds of other cool things are common to Near Death Experiencers:
A greater sense of connection to their lives
Much less concern for money and material things (even if they were VERY materialistic before)
Greater concern for all people
Enhanced sense of spirituality (but far less identification with “one” religion, even if they were very religious before)
And basically, a much happier, healthier and more hopeful existence overall!
The 1 BIG surprise that most near death experiencers report?
A much greater and heightened sense of psychic ability! Many people who have an NDE come back with a very strong sense of precognition, and psychic connection. Many even can see and speak to spirits…….and see and feel things BEFORE they happen on a regular basis. Some scientists and researchers believe that being able to see some part of the world that awaits, opens up something special in the awareness or consciousness of NDE survivors, and they bring that gift BACK to this world, when they “wake up”.
Regardless of what it is, as a writer and researcher of psychic phenomena myself, I find that the NDE’rs I meet are some of the most psychic, the most intuitive and the most ALIVE and awake people in the world….further reinforcing that this experience is far more mysterious, mystical and MAGICAL than most of us can conceive!
